Exploring Health
as a Student of Life
For as long as I can remember my attention and focus has been drawn by a question, “what am I living in?” and “how does all this work?”. The two questions gave rise to a life where my work is the externalisation of my internal world.
These two questions have led to an ever deepening interest and awe for Life; its structures, its functions, its interactions, its changes. At a personal level it has become an inspired fascination with Anatomy, Physiology, “Mind” and how we are Nature. My interest in my problems are an internal prompt on a curious quest to explore the structure and functions of me, my history and to see what happens in the “re-wilding” process. In this process I found myself noticing it all being the same as “life’s movements”.
The more I experience and learn with this focus, the more I notice some of the hidden challenges within the challenges that are possible to overcome in order to make new progress.
This personal learning has carried into all of my professional learning (started in the health and wellness industry in 2002) and carried over into my training, treating, teaching, coaching and mentoring. What is starting to become clearer to me now is that awareness, interest and control of ones self are key requirements for conscious change. It is these 3 “things” that I am helping people to explore (in themselves) with their own anatomy, physiology and “mind”. It is a slow, steady and nonlinear process (like all things in life).
I can only work genuinely with people the way that I work with myself and so, it is an organic process to be uncovered and explored. It is best suited to those that value the nature of a process and are accepting of the challenges that come with it and self education, self discovery, self awareness.
The majority of the people that I work with are referrals and have very specific issues that they want help with (often working together with other therapists, trainers and teachers). The process involves restorative movement, cranial sacral therapy and ayurvedic lifestyle coaching.
At a Fundamental level, my interest for myself and for others is the journey towards “better” by learning more about ourselves.

FOCUS
-
Qualifying as a Personal Trainer in 2002 and focusing on corrective exercise from about 2006, my love of movement has been focused on the details of “why doesn’t that feel right” or “what is stopping me from being able to do that”. We all have a history of bumps and scrapes, sprains strains, tears, dislocations, impacts, fractures, breaks, surgeries etc. They are often not worked with (for restoration) anywhere close to their potential. When working with people. my interest is to find these parts of their history, assess them, think about them, develop a hypothesis and start exploring them with specifically detailed movement to see how influential they are in the conditions of the problems; Then starts the process of finding the challenges within the challenges that can help people work their way through their problems and transform towards “better” …

“There is a deeper layer of activity that has barely been touched upon. This deeper layer has to do with the energies that integrate the animated, living, homeostatic body. The day will come when they too will be catalogued and their laws understood.” — William Sutherland
